[Michlib-l] Librarian/archivist questions

Hi,
I was wondering how competitive the job market is for librarians
and archivists. Is there a difference in how many jobs are open for
archivists, public librarians, university librarians? What is the salary
for public librarians vs university librarians vs archivists? What are the
types of classes you have to do for a MLIS program and is reading and
writing involved? Also do you have to like reading and writing to work at a
library or in archives or is it more of like research type stuff?
