Inspire and build for the future as Marion Public Library<http://www.marionpubliclibrary.org/>'s next Library Director. The Board of Trustees of the Marion Public Library seeks a leader to contribute to building and sustaining Marion as a creative city that attracts and nurtures talented people, mobilizes ideas, stimulates innovation, and encourages diversity. Working with the City of Marion, the Library is a center of cultural vitality enhancing the quality of life through library services for all Marion residents. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to move forward with the Library's building project-groundbreaking for the new 50,000 square foot library was October 1, 2020! The new $18 million Library will allow for the development and implementation of additional library programs and services incorporating a flexible, open collaborative environment welcoming to all. The Marion Public Library staff (26FTE) serves 39,000+ residents and borrowers in the Metro Library Network (Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, and Marion). The $2.1 million annual operating budget is funded primarily through a City appropriation with additional financial support from the Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation. The Foundation is contributing $3 million to the building fund through private fundraising efforts. The Marion Public Library is a community gathering place that offers everyone easy access to information, recreation, and cultural resources.
The City of Marion<http://www.cityofmarion.org/> is the second largest city in the Cedar Rapids metro area and one of the fastest growing communities in Iowa. Marion residents take pride in their exceptional schools, eclectic array of cultural and entertainment offerings (Uptown Marion has been recognized as a Cultural and Entertainment District), sixteen beautiful city parks, the new Prospect Meadow Sports Complex and Tuma Soccer Complex, and a mix of small and large businesses bringing families, friends, and neighbors together. Events throughout the year (Marion Arts Festival, Swamp Fox Festival, concerts in the parks) attract thousands of people. Marion offers the comfort and security of a small community with convenient opportunities of a large city. Marion is continuing its tradition of forward-looking growth, building upon its past to offer its citizens wide ranging opportunities. A key initiative is the Be Well Marion program-a plan focused on community well-being. For more information on Marion and the area, visit Marion Links<http://www.bradburymiller.com/Marionlinks.htm>.
