Position:         Information Technology Coordinator

Rate of Pay:   $42,000

Benefits:         401K, 457, Health, Dental, Optical, Health Savings Plan

Hours: 40 hours per week including some evenings and Saturdays

Reports to:     Library Director

The Auburn Hills Public Library is seeking a dedicated IT professional to lead its IT department. AHPL has recently undergone changes to their IT infrastructure including new servers, network gear, and infrastructure design. In addition, AHPL is getting ready to launch its Technology  Studio, an innovative technology space filled with gadgets and high-end tech for the Auburn Hills community. If you’re ready to lead AHPL into the next phase of its technology revolution, providing excellent technology support for both patrons and staff, this might just be the job for you!



Minimum Qualification:

  *   Bachelor’s Degree of Science (or close to completion) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent OR comparable certifications



Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Experience working with Windows Active Directory including Group Policy Management
  *   Experience with networking basics such as routing, switching, DNS, and DHCP
  *   Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems (Specifically – Ubuntu, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2019)
  *   Familiarity and experience with virtualization (specifically VMWare ESXi)
  *   Experience with Office 365 administration including Teams and Exchange
  *   Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to break down technical concepts to non-technical people
  *   Experience with PowerShell



Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  *   Experience with Python and Flask
  *   Experience with Docker
  *   Experience with GitHub
  *   Experience of green screens and other filming and video editing techniques


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  *   Manage the IT department, including balancing the budget
  *   Work with library leadership to determine the direction of IT projects at AHPL
  *   Work closely with the library board, TLN, City of Auburn Hills, vendors, and the Library Director to best meet AHPL’s technology needs
  *   Manage AHPL’s network infrastructure including switches, DHCP, DNS, and wireless networks
  *   Manage AHPL’s server infrastructure including a mix of Windows Server and Ubuntu Linux
  *   Monitor and maintain the library’s backup system
  *   Manage the library’s public computers and loanable devices
  *   Manage the library’s email system through Office 365
  *   Maintain the library’s VOIP phone system
  *   Work with other library staff members to meet technology needs as they arise
  *   Communicate, both in writing and verbally, with the library board, Director, and other staff members about upcoming changes, including training new staff members
  *   Investigate, plan, and implement new projects to move the library forward
  *   Protect the library from cyber security threats
  *   Assist library patrons with technology questions
