Network Administrator Position Announcement



The Milwaukee County Federated Library System (MCFLS) is looking for a skilled, experienced and dedicated individual to serve as its next Network Administrator/PC Support Specialist.  If you have experience in providing network/PC support services and exhibit excellent customer service traits, we’d love to have you on our team.  The Network Administrator/PC Support Specialist provides administrative oversight for the MCFLS network environment and direct technical support to member libraries throughout Milwaukee County.  This position reports directly to the MCFLS System Director.



MCFLS is an organization overseen by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and administered by a seven-member Board of Trustees.  It functions as a membership organization with its membership made up of the 15 public libraries in Milwaukee County.  MCFLS provides resources to libraries such as delivery and automation services while also facilitating collaboration among members to deliver responsive and innovative library services to all residents of Milwaukee County.



Responsibilities

-Technical support.  Manages the deployment, maintenance, support and upgrade of equipment. Develops member library trouble call response protocols, including service scheduling, post-service follow-up, and overall quality control. Makes recommendations concerning standard hardware/software and peripheral products and standards and provides relevant training.

-Member library technology consultation and special project implementation.  Assesses needs, recommends solutions, researches pricing, and, as directed, orders and installs equipment for member libraries.

-Network administration. Manages all functions and programs currently operating in the network environment and ensures WAN/LAN connectivity. Assumes liaison role with relevant vendors. Develops and maintains relevant licensing and documentation information.

-Planning and Research.  Participates in the development of the MCFLS Technology Plan and Technology Annual Report, researches current and evolving technologies, and, as assigned, serves on system and statewide committees.

-Inventory Management and Database Program Development.  Manages inventory control of all MCFLS central and remote site equipment.



Qualifications

Required:

-Four year college degree, or advanced certifications and/or equivalent experience may be substituted.

-3-5 years of professionally responsible experience in computer information systems; especially related to network administration, WAN/LAN configuration, and workstation hardware and software.

-Experience maintaining servers and workstations in a Windows environment.

-Excellent communication skills needed. Must be able to work comfortably, patiently, and helpfully with people whose computer skills range from negligible to advanced.



Preferred:

-Experience maintaining networks and workstations for public use, particularly within a public library setting.

-Current CompTIA A+ certification.

-Experience with Linux environments.

-Skilled in programming or scripting to accomplish work tasks.



Compensation

Minimum salary $70,000, commensurate with experience.  Excellent benefits package includes: health, dental, life, and vision insurance; state pension program; 12 paid holidays, etc.
