We see a lot of discussion on the list about salaries. I wanted to make sure members of the Michigan library community, including administrators, staff and boards were aware of the ALA-APA "Advocating for Better Salaries Toolkit" that is online at https://ala-apa.org/files/2010/02/2017-ALA-APA-BETTER-SALARIES-TOOLKIT-6th-ed.pdf LM can also provide reports generated from our annual reports to provide salary comparisons as well. We are currently reviewing some enhancements to this data we collect to in an effort to better serve the needs of the Michigan library community.

The ALA-APA: the Organization for the Advancement of Library Employees, ala-apa.org<https://ala-apa.org/>, does regular salary surveys and provides a variety of information and tools to help the interests of librarians and library workers. To find more resources visit their website. You can also read their online newsletter and learn about other certification programs available.

We hope you find the tools here useful. If you have questions, please let us know.
