Reminder: STARnet’s STEM Activity Clearinghouse<http://clearinghouse.starnetlibraries.org/> has great activities & resources for libraries.
In the STEM Activity Clearinghouse, librarians and library staff can find high quality, vetted STEM activities that are appropriate for library use. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
You can search by audience, content level, and difficulty, among others. You can also browse collections that we've curated just for you! Almost all the activities in the Clearinghouse have pictures or videos of real libraries doing these activities. Activities developed outside the STAR_Net Project will include tips and tricks for implementing in your library, and will link you back to the original source content so you can explore more.

Learning for Justice’s Speak Up at School Guide<https://www.learningforjustice.org/magazine/publications/speak-up-at-school>, a Southern Poverty Law Center project
Many of the questions we [Learning for Justice] receive for our magazine column “Ask Teaching Tolerance” are from educators seeking advice about how to respond when someone—a student, a colleague, even a parent—uses biased language or stereotypes in school.
This guide<https://www.tolerance.org/sites/default/files/2019-04/TT-Speak-Up-Guide_0.pdf> is our response. It’s for educators who want to develop the skills to speak up themselves and who want to help their students find the courage to speak up too.
This guide is for the adults in the school. It offers advice about how to respond to remarks made by students and by other adults and gives guidance for helping students learn to speak up as well. We believe that modeling the kind of behavior we want from students is one of the most effective ways of teaching it. Includes a pocket guide<https://www.learningforjustice.org/sites/default/files/general/speak_up_pocket_card_2up.pdf> for educators and students, too.

CSLP Teen Video Challenge
Just a reminder that CSLP's 2021 Teen Video Challenge is accepting videos through August 6 from teens across the country! It's a fun contest for creative teens and it's easier than ever for them to enter thanks to simplified rules. Please share on your social media (using #TailsandTales), your website, and with teens in your community!
The 2021 Teen Video Challenge, sponsored by the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), is an annual national video contest open to all teens. The challenge is for teens to create a public service announcement-type video that shows their unique interpretation of the 2021 CSLP slogan “Tails and Tales” and promotes libraries and reading.
  * The contest is open to teens 13-18 (it's fine for people older or younger to appear in the videos).
  * The process is simple; teens just need to upload their video to the social media outlet of their choice, submit a link to their video, and complete a simple online form.
  * Videos will be limited to 60 seconds, making this a doable project for individuals or small teams.
  * Teens/teen teams may submit more than one video.
  * The program will accept submissions June 1-Aug 6, 2021, so that it can be incorporated into your summer program
  * There will be 5 national winners, who will each receive a cash prize of $200. (Yes, the teens get the cash, library of teen’s choosing gets a $50 credit to CSLP Store)
