[Michlib-l] MeL Minute: Test Prep Resources in LearningExpress Library

The LearningExpress Library<http://widgets.ebscohost.com/prod/customerspecific/mel/auth.php?database=lex>, accessible through the Michigan eLibrary<https://mel.org/welcome>, has several resources to assist in that endeavor.  High school students can explore a wide range of test preparation resources for college, vocational, and military pursuits.





Standardized Practice Tests

The Prepare for College Center<http://widgets.ebscohost.com/prod/customerspecific/mel/auth.php?database=PSHSec> under the High School Library umbrella in LearningExpress has nearly every type of standardized practice test available for secondary students:  AP®, ACT®, IELTS™, PSAT®, SAT®, TOEFL iBT®, and even a complete battery of Accuplacer® and Asset College Placement exams. Once users create an account in LearningExpress Library (free to all Michigan citizens), then they can take practice exams at their own pace, as all progress is saved in the user’s account.



Vocational Practice Tests

In the Career Exploration Center<http://widgets.ebscohost.com/prod/customerspecific/mel/auth.php?database=PSHSce>—also under the High School Library umbrella in LearningExpress—there are a wide range of individual career exams such as Allied Health, CDL, Cosmetology, Law Enforcement and Plumbing just to name a few.  The WorkKeys® practice exams in Applied Math, Applied Technology, Business Writing, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents are available through this Center.  There is also a series of skill-building tutorials on effective communication, time management, interviewing, and professional etiquette.



Don’t Forget the Military

The Career Exploration Center also has resources for those interested in entering the military.  There are ASVAB diagnostic and practice exams as well as 4 downloadable eBooks available for ASVAB review.  Found within the Career Preparation Center<http://widgets.ebscohost.com/prod/customerspecific/mel/auth.php?database=lexcp> under the Public Library umbrella in LearningExpress are additional military practice tests, including AFOQT, ASTB, SIFT and the Military Flight Aptitude Test Prep eBook.
