Tecumseh District Library hosts "The Flint Water Crisis: Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha's Story " on Zoom on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

What the Eyes Don't See is a firsthand, fast-paced account of the Flint Water Crisis through the eyes of Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, the pediatrician who discovered elevated lead levels in Flint children and ultimately alerted government officials and the public about the Flint Water Crisis.

During this virtual book talk, you will hear the story of how she stood up to government officials who dismissed the crisis and how she and a small team of crusaders finally got the government to pay attention and take action.

Dr. Mona is now the founder and director of the Michigan State University and Hurley Children's Pediatric Public Health Initiative, a model public health program created to mitigate the impact of the crisis.

This special virtual presentation is made possible through the generosity of Michigan Humanities and the Friends of Tecumseh District Library.

"The 2019-20 Great Michigan Read is presented by Michigan Humanities and supported by national, statewide, and local partners, including the National Endowment for the Humanities and The Meijer Foundation."
