Join for Part 40: "FCC Starts Homework Gap Rulemaking Process"
Friday 3/26 at 11am ET
With the $7.17 billion emergency fund, the Federal Communications Commission will have to issue regulations within 52 days(!) to carry out Congress' instructions. Details on when and how the funding will be distributed are thus not yet available.
Join to hear three leaders on new e-rate ruling, funding and prospects for libraries to extend services beyond the walls. Beyond the parking lot! Be ready!

Speakers:

  * Bob Bocher, ALA Fellow on e-Rate and Broadband - "The Emergency Connectivity Fund can be used by schools and libraries at locations outside of a school or library building. (Note: Allowing E-rate funds to be used for off-campus broadband connectivity is supported by many school and library organizations.)"

  * John Harrigan, CEO, Funds for Learning, LLC - "Progress! Today the FCC initiated a rule making process for a one-time emergency program that will empower schools and libraries with $7.1 billion to bridge the #homeworkgap and #digitaldivide."

  * Steve Augustino, Partner in the Telecommunications Practice Group at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP. - "Helped to create the firm's Telecommunications Practice, which is now one of the most experienced telecommunications practices in the nation."
