The Troy Public Library seeks a qualified candidate for a Part-time Library Aide position in our Circulation department.

The Troy Public Library<http://troypl.org/> is the hub of the vibrant, dynamic, and diverse City of Troy. The Library sees over 700,000 visitors per year and serves an educated and involved community.
DUTIES

  *   Supports the circulation area using computer hardware, software and the Polaris automated system.
  *   Assists patrons in person, on the phone and via e-mail.
  *   Assists with training and instruction of staff and patrons.
  *   Coordinates workflow and staff assigned to the department.
  *   Prepares reports.
  *   Processes inter-library loans.
  *   Provides curbside service to patrons.
  *   Performs some cash handling.
  *   Reports to the Circulation Supervisor.
  *   Performs related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS

  *   High school degree or GED equivalent and a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of college credits. Selected candidate(s) must submit proof of educational attainment and official transcripts at time of offer.
  *   Applicants with an equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
  *   Be able to transport library materials from return bins to carts (lift up to 25 pounds and push up to 40 pounds).
  *   Proficient with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word and Excel) and the Internet.
  *   As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana).
PREFERENCES

  *   Prefer recent paid library circulation work experience and/or experience providing training and instruction.
  *   Prefer experience with Polaris Library System software.
  *   Recent customer service experience.
HOURS
Part-time; Year-round.
Twenty (20) hours per week; Schedule will include at least one evening shift per week and at least two weekend shifts per month.
