Hello! I thought I'd push one last email (ha! famous last words) with updates on summer library programming, all in 1 spot. I put much of this information in various weekly updates throughout these past months, but here's a compiled list as we approach program kick-offs!!! (Please forward this to staff that coordinate summer library programming, if they're not on the listserv.)

Supplemental Resources for Tails & Tales
Thanks to the Alabama Public Library Service for a great Tails & Tales LibGuide<https://apls.libguides.com/c.php?g=1032504&p=7994561> - they have tracking sheets, Grab & Go materials, crafts, and more!
OH Youth Services group has also created a "Take & Make" Google Folder<https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zrzBFSyKPbUaB_yWQrEQQtFOkSVN9wGj?usp=sharing> and are still compiling ideas - you do need a Google Account to access. We have permission to borrow their ideas.
Thank you, Alabama & Ohio!
Did you know you can take a virtual tour of the Detroit Zoo? Could be a fun virtual share or a #TailsandTales program this summer: https://www.thinglink.com/mediacard/1402095879061504001<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thinglink.com%2Fmediacard%2F1402095879061504001&data=04%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7C6b8f1a0d903949da6dad08d8e56d26c6%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637511604275764667%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=Pm%2FRZ12EeWmZCOp23SSGxS1qltb2TbKiliVC53iH5A4%3D&reserved=0>

Social Media
The Library of Michigan has created a series of sample posts and graphics for your library to use on social media, which have been added to the overall Collaborative Summer Library Program's 2021 Tails & Tales Social Media Toolkit: https://bit.ly/CSLP_Toolkit21. The document is a living one, so the CSLP social media team will keep it updated. Remember you can follow CSLP on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest: @CSLPreads. CSLP also offers two Facebook Groups for member library staff: Feeding the Whole Child<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fgroups%2Fcslpfeeds&data=04%7C01%7CLancasterC5%40michigan.gov%7C8d8a9048b8a241d50a9008d8f5ef9ee8%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637529756807939075%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000&sdata=UnfkoR7XmkwELQRSfyPWSYPJCGnpAhl%2BHDeX1n6LITU%3D&reserved=0> and the Official Summer Library Programming<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fgroups%2Fcslp.planning&data=04%7C01%7CLancasterC5%40michigan.gov%7C8d8a9048b8a241d50a9008d8f5ef9ee8%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637529756807939075%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C2000&sdata=ZTN3uSgqgpRmV9AznZbMaqEckqqsMWkF6A5cJWZUE1E%3D&reserved=0> group.

The "base" files are available for you to add your own logo or text if this is something your library is interested in doing. Reading Logs/Tri-fold brochure
Michigan public libraries are encouraged to download and edit the following PDF's to include their library's programming, logo and contact information. A library might also choose to edit out the reading log lines and input additional programming or add a reading recommendation list. Need to learn how to edit a PDF? A quick search online will give you free resources and instructions to meet your needs.

Artwork Committee
CSLP is currently seeking applicants for the 2023 artwork by Frank Morrison. Please complete this application by May 10th<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeNig3tqtujZVXlUlhjRJYXwdaxM90VRKOijGdXvHOoYHHh7Q/viewform> if you are interested (it is a popular committee to serve on).
The Teen Video Challenge, sponsored by the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), is an annual national video contest open to all teens (librarian and teacher support is encouraged). The challenge is for teens to create a public service announcement-type video that shows their unique interpretation of the 2021 CSLP slogan "Tails and Tales." Videos are to be no longer than 60 seconds and should promote libraries and reading. https://www.cslpreads.org/programs/teen-program/2021-teen-video-challenge/<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cslpreads.org%2Fprograms%2Fteen-program%2F2021-teen-video-challenge%2F&data=04%7C01%7Clancasterc5%40michigan.gov%7C48ba63ee55e8421fc0c608d8eaebb940%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C1%7C637517645482708221%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=dTh8sW5zdMB%2F2fJSX4%2BNmClcg8Si2jg9GFH7q%2F0Rhi8%3D&reserved=0>
Videos will be accepted June 1 through August 6, 2021.
* The contest is open to teens 13-18 (though it's fine for people older or younger to appear in the videos).
* The process is simple; teens just need to upload their video to the social media outlet of their choice, submit a link to their video, and complete a simple online form.
* Videos will be limited to 60 seconds, making this a doable project for individuals or small teams.
* Teens/teen teams may submit more than one video.
* The program will accept submissions June 1-Aug 6, 2021, so that it can be incorporated into your summer program (it's still a great opportunity to partner with schools with video production classes or clubs; students can produce the videos as a class project and submit them in June!)
* Permission and model release forms will only be required from the winning entries (completing the forms is a requirement to receive prizes and acknowledgement).
* There will be 5 national winners, who will each receive a cash prize of $200. The TVC Ad-Hoc Committee will convene a judging panel from CSLP partners and members in August.
