Save the Children and Partners for Education at Berea College are pleased to announce that the second annual Rural Library Summit will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2021. The Summit will explore how libraries can support cradle-to-career solutions by growing their impact on improving third-grade reading, combating food insecurities and enhancing mental health.

We are excited to announce that Dr. Felicia Cumings Smith, president of the National Center for Families Learning, will present the opening keynote address.

The 2021 Rural Library Summit celebrates the power of libraries to engage rural communities to build stronger, more equitable supports for all young people. Presentations and workshops will introduce how to create successful cradle-to-career initiatives and offer practitioners the opportunity to share what has worked in their community.

Cradle-to-career initiatives create pathways to success for all young people by recognizing that access to opportunity is limited for many and supports are needed to meet the needs of all. Supports include programs addressing food insecurity, early education, literacy, mental health, college access and much more. Public libraries play a key role in creating successful initiatives by catalyzing the community to work together. The Rural Library Summit will introduce attendees to the mindsets, skills and tools needed to bring community partners together to build shared pathways to success.

In addition to the opportunities for learning at the Summit, Save the Children is proud to offer $7,500 worth of support material to Rural Library Summit participants. Fourteen attendees will be randomly selected to win the prizes listed below.
