The Kalamazoo College Library has an open Weekend Circulation Assistant position. This is a part-time, academic year position. Current opening is 10 hours per week: 12pm-5pm Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend Circulation Assistant - Saturday/Sunday

Work schedule: Mid-September through mid-June, part-time, weekends as assigned. Current opening is 10 hours per week: 12pm-5pm Saturdays and Sundays.
Immediate supervisor: Circulation Supervisor
Nature of duties:

  *   Full responsibility for library circulation operations during evening and weekend hours, including:
     *   Supervising student assistants
     *   Handling patron requests and complaints, in person or by phone
     *   Assisting patrons in using library technology (online catalog, copiers)
     *   Collecting and recording fines and fees
     *   Maintaining daily statistical counts
     *   Patron and building security
     *   Opening or closing the library building as required
  *   Assists with training of student circulation staff
  *   Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated commitment to provide excellent service to all patrons; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively without direct supervision; ability to learn and follow detailed procedures; basic clerical skills and computer proficiency; evidence of flexibility, enthusiasm, and collegiality; adept at handling multiple responsibilities; and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff.
Preferred: Library and supervisory work experience.
Physical requirements include ability to move about within all areas of the library building in order to assist patrons and to secure the building at closing. Ability to read and write; to use computers and telephones; to lift and carry books, documents and supplies; to communicate verbally with patrons and staff.
