Hello,
To any libraries still doing Summer Reading, we have 8 unopened packages and one partial of CSLP's Oceans of Possibilities paper reading logs and accompanying stickers (https://shop.cslpreads.org/product/oceans-of-possibilities-timed-reading-records-english-spanish/ ) free to whoever wants them. Usually every year we run out of them early on, but I guess it's a testament to how awesome Beanstack is; almost everyone logged online!
Send me your RIDES code and I'll get them out ASAP!

If you had difficulty with the links in the previous document, they are
fixed here

Digital Content? Statewide Advertising? How great is it that your library
received thousands of free audio and ebook content available in perpetuity
through OverDrive for your community? And a statewide marketing campaign to
let all residents know what is available at their local library? Pretty
great, right? We agree!

But we aren?t done yet?we need your assistance. Since these items were
purchased with grant funds through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021
(ARPA), certain requirements need to be completed as with any grant. So,
can we count on you to help with the following three items?

*Surveys*
STAFF SURVEY: Click the link to complete the *STAFF SURVEY* about the
digital audiobook and ebook content your library received.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Mi83forLibraries

PATRON SURVEY: Please share the *PATRON SURVEY* via email, newsletter,
your website, and your Facebook or Instagram platforms.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Mi83

Responses will be collected from *August 1 through September 9, 2022 *

*Stories and Testimonials*: For the last question on the surveys, we would
love for you to share any stories or testimonials about the digital content
items your library received through OverDrive. *STAFF TESTIMONIALS:* There
are thousands of new audio and ebook titles available like job-seeking
skills, educational needs, and health and wellness topics. Perhaps you have
helped guide a patron to this new content? Maybe you had a program where
not only did you promote the physical books you had on the same topic, but
you also highlighted what was available on OverDrive with the new content? *
PATRON TESTIMONIALS: *Have patrons commented about the television ads they
have seen promoting MI Library is NOW? Have they seen the social media
posts and wondered what YOUR library received through the grant? Please
share your stories!

*Thanks to Legislators: *If someone gave you much-needed grant funds, you?d
be sure to thank them, right? Well, federal legislators, through the
Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), gave our state $4 million
in ARPA funding. We need to make sure we let them know how much it means to
libraries and our communities. Take a few minutes and say thank you. Not
sure who to contact? Click here
<https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member>.

On behalf of the Michigan Cooperative Directors Association, the Library of
Michigan, and the Michigan Library Association, thank you for taking part
in this statewide program!

Funding for the MI-83 Digital Library Connection project is provided in
part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library of
Michigan, an agency of the Michigan Department of Education. Project
partners include the Michigan Library Cooperatives and the Michigan Library
Association, Lakeland Library Cooperative, Mid-Michigan Library League,
White Pine Library Cooperative, and Woodlands Library Cooperative.

Dear Stephanie and all -

Tecumseh District Library started the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
program this spring.
The easiest way to describe how our program works is for you to look on
the Children's Page of our website:
 https://www.tecumsehlibrary.org/Pages/Index/30443/childrens-home-page

Remember that every library tweaks the program described at
https://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/ to fit their own situation. I
know that we did!

When parents pick up their packet, I remind them that this program is not
a race or a contest!

I will tell you that it is a program full of happiness when the family
picks up their packet and each time the child comes in for their first Brag
Tag and then each Brag Tag thereafter! They are so excited! And my
colleagues at the Circulation Desk and I make a big deal out of each
visit!

I decided not to give out anything other than the Brag Tags, because
nothing else is really needed for their feeling of success. The Brag Tags
themselves seem to make everyone happy! (Plus, our library kids get enough
prizes during the Summer Reading Program!)

If you would like more information about our program, please feel free to
contact me at mbreasoner at tecumsehlibrary.org

 Best wishes,
 Mary Beth

Good Morning MichLibL,

Coloma Public Library's 10yr millage with Headlee override passed! While,
we have great community support, I am also very thankful to have our 'secret
weapon' in the form of Shirley Bruursema who provided much guidance for my
first campaign as a Director in Michigan.

It's going to be a nice day in Coloma. I hope it's a nice one in your
library too! Mary

And a special shout out to former BDL Director Evette Atkin, who led us

Hello All!

I am happy to report that Cass District Library's Headlee override passed,
our first ask since the millage was originally established in 1993. We are
excited to build a new library branch in Edwardsburg with support from
these additional revenues!

The Michigan Stay Well program presents a workshop series for teenagers.

Four Tuesday sessions from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Four in 10 teenagers report they feel "persistently sad or hopeless," according to a recent CDC survey. Our workshop series for teens can help young people struggling with these kinds of feelings.

The online workshops are geared toward helping teens understand the causes and consequences of emotions. Participants will learn how to turn off self-judgement, manage relationships better and regulate their ups and downs-with the goal of finding more meaning and purpose in life.
To participate, all you need is an internet connection to Zoom, paper and pencil and an open mind.
All sessions are free. Mondays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at noon
Learning to live with grief and loss is a painful process-and while it may differ from one individual to another, it helps to understand the normal feelings we all experience.

In this six-week online workshop series, clinical mental health counselor Zeinab Moussa discusses the emotions experienced by those who are grieving and offers healthy ways to cope. Like her previous grief-and-loss series, each weekly workshop will focus on one aspect of the grieving process. Participants will engage in drawing, writing, mental exercises and relaxation techniques to help them work through their grief.

The Michigan Stay Well program presents a free interactive workshop series
for parents and their kids.

Four Wednesday evening sessions from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It takes time for children to develop emotional intelligence-the ability to perceive, understand and manage emotions. Parents can play a key role in this development by helping their child learn the words and feelings associated with various emotions. This series of four online workshops paves the way by involving family members in creative art projects centered around identity, self-awareness and emotional expression.

The workshops will be led by clinical mental health counselor Zeinab Moussa, who has children of her own and loves to get families talking, especially while making art! Her professional background includes providing behavioral and mental health services, special education and art education.

To participate, all you need is an internet connection to Zoom and some white paper, scissors and crayons, markers, or pen/pencil.
Register for as many sessions as you like!
