Hi everyone,
Hope you're having a wonderful week! At Capital Area District Libraries, accessibility and inclusion initiatives for our libraries is one of our top priorities. One of the programs we participate in is Able Eyes<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__streaklinks.com_BJh0cWSExFYKamyfJggBeObI_https-253A-252F-252Fwww.ableeyes.org-252Fabout-2Dvirtual-2Dtours-252F&d=DwMFaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=QMMCCmFitgA79nKxf9JAAyBCpzI40q4728Zr1CLcG18&m=Hwy8gTFtlvtzwynQxQnBLlvnUmTQkOX6zpJoPcNnOpE&s=RzKd6apMlY--oYuUPLj8KxtbH7Ac-lHlSddDjLo1d9Q&e=>. They've provided virtual walk-thru tours of our CADL libraries to help visitors with physical and/or invisible disabilities view and explore our libraries beforehand to decrease anxiety and see our physical spaces.
The tours are available on the Able Eyes website<https://www.ableeyes.org/>/app, plus we have the tours on our website and Google Business listing for all visitors of all abilities to view. It's been a great program with exceptional marketing perks that is helping individuals and families feel comfortable in our spaces. Here's an example of one of our tours for reference: https://www.ableeyes.org/virtual-tours/capital-area-district-library-south-lansing-branch-lansing-mi/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.ableeyes.org_virtual-2Dtours_capital-2Darea-2Ddistrict-2Dlibrary-2Dsouth-2Dlansing-2Dbranch-2Dlansing-2Dmi_&d=DwMFaQ&c=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM&r=QMMCCmFitgA79nKxf9JAAyBCpzI40q4728Zr1CLcG18&m=Hwy8gTFtlvtzwynQxQnBLlvnUmTQkOX6zpJoPcNnOpE&s=eWbdJ8tVQTB52k8m7ify5jDtHmXekX7Ij-tKSxWlVTU&e=>. There is a cost for the filming and hosting. It's based on the square footage of the library. But, for our libraries, we've been able to secure grant funding for the virtual tours as there are many grants available that focus on increasing accessibility of libraries.
I'm happy to answer any questions if you have them or feel free to reach out to Able Eyes directly through their website or email at info at ableeyes.org<mailto:info at ableeyes.org>.
Have a great day!
