For those with film in your collections, there are two grant opportunities from the National Film Preservation Foundation available. See details below:

Friday, March 24th is the registration deadline for the National Film Preservation Foundation's annual federally-funded grant program, made possible by the Library of Congress Sound Recording and Film Preservation Programs Reauthorization Act of 2016.

The NFPF offers two types of federal cash grants that support the preservation of historically and culturally significant American films. Completed applications will be due Friday, April 28th.

Basic Preservation Grants fund laboratory work to create preservation masters and access copies, and are open to nonprofit and public institutions in the United States that provide public access to their film collections. The awards range from $1,000 to $20,000. For more information go to www.filmpreservation.org/nfpf-grants/...<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.filmpreservation.org%2Fnfpf-grants%2Fbasic-preservation-grants&data=05%7C01%7Cgallob%40michigan.gov%7C72580a46c2f64dfba59008dadd0b54fb%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C638065337986087361%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=WVuOZi2PLOr%2FnqXtmpvX3dz25DEHA0Z%2FydHU9XJlJi4%3D&reserved=0>.

Matching Grants help experienced institutions undertake larger-scale projects; applicants may request cash stipends of between $20,001 and $75,000 to fund laboratory work. They must "match" the NFPF grant with outside cash support equal to one-fifth of the award. Only institutions that have successfully completed a NFPF-funded project may apply. For more information go to www.filmpreservation.org/nfpf-grants/matching-grants<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.filmpreservation.org%2Fnfpf-grants%2Fmatching-grants&data=05%7C01%7Cgallob%40michigan.gov%7C72580a46c2f64dfba59008dadd0b54fb%7Cd5fb7087377742ad966a892ef47225d1%7C0%7C0%7C638065337986087361%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=hI9XnqhNtOmtzXXGpBP3FxkXzqgT%2Fhs3sJfpGQFMdUc%3D&reserved=0>.

If your institution has a project that fits our grant guidelines, we encourage you to apply. Should your archive be new to film preservation, we are here to answer your questions and guide you through the application process. We look forward to hearing from you on or before March 24th.
