*JOB TITLE:**          Information Services Librarian –
Full-Time                  *

*REPORTS TO:**                  Head of Information Services*



*The Novi Public Library is a vibrant, fast-paced class six library located
within Oakland County. The Library was awarded the “Community Builder
Award” in 2021 from the Novi Chamber of Commerce for its innovative
approach to reaching its community by introducing the first self-service
kiosk in Michigan, called Lakeshore Lending Library. We proudly serve a
diverse community with a population of 65,000+.  As a proud organization
within the Novi community, we are committed to serving our guests with
exceptional customer service through innovative programming, cutting-edge
technology in our iCube Makerspace, and expertly trained staff. In order to
meet the needs of our diverse population, we have increased staff awareness
and education of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives through
organization-wide training; created NPL @ Your Door, a mail delivery
service, to meet the needs of community members who may have less access to
the building; and advanced our ongoing commitment to “Inspire, Inform and

* PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: *

1.    Provides readers’ advisory, reference services and computer
assistance using a variety of collections, materials and formats.

2.    Participates in collection development and maintenance, keeping
within monetary      and physical space constraints.

3.    Plans, promotes and implements programming services appropriate to
the needs of the community.

4.    Serves as member of the iCube Makerspace Team; develops, implements,
and maintains new and existing technology, services, and projects, assists
guests with the use of makerspace equipment.

5.    Engages in outreach opportunities within the community.

* OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: *

1.    Maintains proficiency with Library databases and digital services,
and learns new technology and software.

2.    Adapts and responds to multiple priorities, interruptions and
demands, and resolves problem situations in a positive manner.

3.    Seeks professional continuing education, both organized and casual,
with an air toward keeping services current and appropriate; member of
professional development; member of internal and external committees.

4.    Communicates effectively with guests, co-workers, and professional
colleagues.

5.    Enforces library policies relevant to public use; responds to
emergencies and       provides support, as needed; acts quickly, exercising
good judgment.

6.    Mentors and trains MLS Librarian Intern; trains and oversees
department volunteers.

7.    Works positively and collaboratively across departments to accomplish
department goals.

8.    Performs other duties as assigned.

* JOB QUALIFICATIONS: *

1.    MLS from an ALA accredited school, or proof of last semester of
enrollment documented by an academic advisor from an ALA accredited school
with guaranteed graduation by December 31, 2022.

2.    Knowledge of adult and youth literature preferred.

3.    Knowledge of movies and television preferred.


*Hours: *40 hours per week including evenings and weekends

*Salary Range with MLS*: $45,555 - $59,222 annually

*Salary Range without MLS:*  $33,280 annually (salary would increase to
$45,555 upon completion of MLS)

*Benefits:* Benefits are offered with this position (sick, vacation,
personal business, paid holidays, 457 defined contribution retirement and
healthcare insurance coverage)
