Instruction Librarian



Cornerstone University invites applications for the position of Instruction Librarian at Miller Library. This position works collaboratively with the library staff to support the research needs of the university community including faculty, staff, and students. The Instruction Librarian oversees research instruction with a primary focus on instruction within the core curriculum. This position serves as a liaison with faculty in matters of academic resources and collection development.



Duties and Responsibilities:


Other duties may be assigned.

  *
  *   Serves as head of instruction team and oversees the development and preparation of research instruction for all academic programs based on current information literacy standards and practices.
  *
  *   Teaches library/information literacy sessions for courses within the core curriculum.
  *
  *   Provides general library instruction and training for library staff.
  *   Serves as liaison to the faculty and students in the undergraduate Humanities division by providing subject-specific research assistance and library instruction.
  *   Responsible for the selection and evaluation of print and electronic resources in assigned subject areas.

  *
  *   Develops subject guides and other guides to promote library resources.
  *
  *   Oversees the development of tutorials and other online instructional resources.
  *
  *   Participates in reference desk and/or chat reference rotation.
  *   Attends library staff meetings and serves on the Acquisitions Committee.
  *   Represent the library on university committees as assigned.
  *   Participates in professional associations and other professional development opportunities.



Qualifications:



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  *   MLS/MLIS from an accredited ALA program
  *   Two years of academic library experience
  *   High degree of computer literacy and experience with relevant computer technologies, especially as they relate to online learning and access
  *   Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  *   Eagerness to learn and to teach critical thinking and information seeking skills
  *   Knowledge of current learning, teaching, and information literacy theories, practices, and assessments
  *   Knowledge of print and electronic resources
  *   Ability to work some evenings in rotation with other library staff



ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


  *   A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
  *   A theology and Christian worldview that supports the values and mission of Cornerstone University evidenced by an ability to affirm and exemplify the university’s doctrinal statement, “The Cornerstone Confession.”
  *   Enthusiastic embrace of the Cornerstone University Identity, Mission and Vision statements.
