The Library of Michigan provides statewide membership for all public library staff, friends, and trustees in United for Libraries. To set up your own UFL profile follow the steps below.

  *   Go to the UFL website https://www.ala.org/united/
  *   Click on the blue box at the top that says "Statewide Access - Find Your State"
  *   Scroll down to the Michigan area and click on Register to create a profile in the system.
  *   If already registered then click Login.

If anyone is setting up a profile the UFL staff will see that they are from Michigan and allow access. If anyone has issues they can connect directly with UFL staff. https://www.ala.org/united/about/staff

Book ban efforts in Colorado see little success

Friends of the Vineyard Haven (Mass.) Public Library host 5K fundraiser

The Friends of the Vineyard Haven (Mass.) Public Library held its 25th annual 5K Sept. 25, in person, for the first time in two years. The 5K was done virtually during 2020 and 2021. A total of 31 people raced, with an entry fee of $25 that raised funds to support services and programs that the Friends fund, including museum and park passes.

Rocklin (Calif.) Friends of the Library celebrates 40 year anniversary

The Rocklin Friends of the Library is celebrated "40 Years of Service" with a dessert social featuring local elected officials. The Friends presented a 40th anniversary gift to Placer County library administration. The event also featured a kids craft table to make bookmarks, Friends history displays, library card sign-ups, and a "Golden Ticket" book giveaway.

Heights Libraries (Ohio) hosted a Homecoming event at every library branch on Sun., Oct. 16, 1:30-4 p.m. Community members were invited to visit and check out new resources, collections, spaces, staff, and services at every branch. The event also included refreshments, raffles, and kids activities.

Library has an Artist-in-Residence Program that aims to connect the community with local working artists and to provide creative and educational opportunities to the community in a way that supports cultural and artistic exchange. The current resident is performing artist, choreographer, and director Terrance Henderson (pictured). In addition, the library's Entrepreneur-in-Residence supports, mentors, and educates new entrepreneurs and budding start-ups through office hours and public programs--building an ecosystem that sustains the development and growth of future entrepreneurs in the region.
