I know, I know, you’re still recovering from this summer… 😉 but I hope the art uplifts your spirits today. Meanwhile, don’t forget that the annual CSLP call for volunteers is now, so take the opportunity to serve & network on a national level: https://www.cslpreads.org/join-a-cslp-committee/. This past year we had 18 volunteers from Michigan, the highest level of participation for state, other than OHIO (we can’t let them beat us). Thank you to all who have volunteered in the past, I hope you continue to participate going forward.

The Collaborative Summer Library Program staff, state reps, and committee chairs actually met in Detroit this week. Among many discussions and strategic planning, there was voting for the 2025 Slogan and 2026 theme:  (Drum roll, please)

  *   The 2025 slogan is “Color Our World”
  *   The 2026 theme will be Dinosaurs


Take time to catch your breath this month, we’ll have lots of supports for 2023’s summer program planning coming your way later in the Fall and this winter.

Partnering with Performers
The Wead Library in Malone, NY participated in the Oceans of Possibilities reading program by partnerships with local performers. Pipsqueak the clown created the "Waves of Fun" comedy show, and used books, stories and fun to promote summer reading!

Librarian Chelsie Russo reported that they also had the Rustic Riders musical duo perform songs about libraries and local waterways! Although they are far from the ocean, they loved the idea of incorporating music relevant to everyone in the audience. The Rustic Riders are passionate about the environment and conservation in the Adirondacks! They were very lucky to find Rustic Riders through the Performers and Programs Database created by the New York State Library.
