[Michlib-l] Ancestry Library Edition versus MyHeritage

Any Michigan Resident can get a Library of Michigan library card, which has
access to not only newspapers but also AncestryLibrary Edition.

Through the recent newsletter about updating the password for the Library of
Michigan card, I was able to find out access was available online with my
Library of Michigan card.

For those libraries that are or have discontinued their AncestryLibrary
Edition, this may be an alternative solution for patrons to promote.

What a great way to have access and promote the Library of Michigan library
and use their online resources.

Good Morning Again MichLibL,

Several libraries asked me to compile and share answers to my earlier
question. Please find the compilation attached.

I really liked the genealogy resources listed on Sherman Township Library's
site and am planning to do something similar for Coloma:

Good luck to everyone, Mary

Good Morning MichLibL,

Our library is considering dropping Ancestry Library edition due to the
high cost and sliding usage numbers-the average cost per search in June for
our library was $8.06!

Our patrons apparently got used to using it at home in the last couple of
years. We had respectable numbers before the pandemic, but not so much
anymore.

Does MyHeritage serve your patrons' genealogy needs? We like the fact that
it's free to us through Mel eLibrary.

We would be grateful for any feedback you can provide about either Ancestry
or MyHeritage.
