READ Ottawa is seeking an excellent communicator and relationship builder
to serve as its next Executive Director. This is a part-time (20 hours per
week) remote position, with frequent travel within Ottawa County. The
Executive Director supervises 3 part-time employees. The ideal candidate
will be self-motivated and have experience with fundraising and
grant-writing, especially state and federal grants. There is potential for
this position to become full-time if additional sustainable funding can be
procured.
READ Ottawa transforms the lives of Ottawa County, Michigan adults by
providing free 1-on-1 literacy tutoring. Learners obtain reading and
speaking fluency from thoroughly trained tutors using research-based
curriculum. This removes barriers for local adults who have disabilities or
are English Language learners who want to improve their literacy skills, by
allowing them to better pursue their dreams including career goals,
community engagement, and gaining citizenship. READ Ottawa is entirely
funded through grants and donations. In 2023, READ Ottawa had an annual
budget of $55,000 and 71 learner-tutor pairs, with major opportunity for
growth in 2024.
This position is salaried and starts at $26,000. Position open until
