Hello Library Land,
Here are some of the cool things happening at Capital Area District Libraries.
#DigLansing
CADL is one of five libraries in the running to receive the 2023 Digital Michigan Newspaper Grant from Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan University. CADL applied for the grant in hopes of digitizing 1970-1977 copies of the Ingham County News newspaper. The paper was the central news outlet for all Ingham County news and served neighboring communities that were not covered by large city newspapers. For CADL to be awarded the grant, you must go on Twitter and tweet "#DigLansing." You can tweet as many times as you want, but not via retweets, until Feb. 28. You can learn more about this campaign at cadl.org/diglansing<https://www.cadl.org/diglansing>.

Student Success Initiative Scholarship
CADL has launched an exciting new component to its Student Success Initiative (SSI). The SSI is a partnership between CADL and school districts within its service area to provide more than 20,000 students with access to educational resources. Through this initiative, students in participating districts can get a library card and access CADL's collection of books, audiobooks, magazines and more.

As part of this initiative, CADL is now offering two $1,000 essay-based scholarships to graduating high school seniors to use towards any college-related expenses. The scholarship is being funded by donations through Kroger Community Rewards and Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA). No library funds from taxpayers are being used. Applicants must meet several criteria to be considered, including having a CADL SSI account that has been used within the last year and submitting a 500-1,000-word essay answering the question, "How would you define success?" You can learn more about the SSI Scholarship at cadl.org/success.<https://www.cadl.org/studentsuccess>
Winter Reading Challenge
CADL kicked off its 25th Anniversary with a 25-Day Winter Reading Challenge, from Jan. 17-Feb. 28. Participants are encouraged to read "s'more" this winter for the chance to win great prizes. The challenge is being hosted on Beanstack and consists of a BINGO card with 25 different activities. Participants are entered into a drawing for a Meijer or Target gift card every time they filled a BINGO row. Additionally, everyone who fills out their entire BINGO card receives their own s'mores bar and is entered for grand prize drawings. You can view our WRC Beanstack webpage at cadl.org/wrc<https://cadl.beanstack.org/reader365>.

Ty the Library Guy
We launched a new campaign called "Ty the Library Guy" on radio and streaming audio platforms like Pandora and Spotify. This series of ads feature a fictional character "Tyler Reader," who discusses the cool things happening at CADL. The voice of "Ty" is provided by national voice-over talent Mike O'Brian, whose clients include Amazon, Google, McDonalds and Uber. You can listen to our "Ty the Library Guy" ads here.<https://audioboom.com/playlists/4635038-ty-the-library-guy-campaign>
