About Kristin Fontichiaro
Kristin speaks across the United States and internationally on various topics including makerspaces, and inquiry, information and literacy. She has authored dozens of professional books and books for children, contributed chapters to numerous textbooks, and written over 100 published articles.

As a professor, she teaches courses in contextual inquiry and user needs assessment, makerspace culture and tools, information literacy, and library and information science.

This event is the first in a two-part winter speaker series MCLS is co-sponsoring on topics related to Intellectual Freedom for Libraries.
The second speaker, Dr. Emily Knox of the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will present "Intellectual Freedom and the Rise of Banned Books" in-person at Western Michigan University (with livestream access for those unable to travel) on February 7. She will also offer an all-day workshop at Western Michigan University on February 8. Registration details for the Dr. Knox lecture and workshop will be shared next week.
