PCI Webinars for Youth Services from the Library of Michigan

  * Storytime for All: An Introduction to Inclusive Best Practices<https://libraryofmichigan.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/libraryofmichigan/event.jsp?event=4502&>
April 17 at 2pm EST
This webinar will focus on incorporating simple yet effective strategies into your storytime routine to expand your reach and connect with your community. By bringing inclusion practices into your program, you can create a welcoming environment through basic enhancements that will benefit learners of all kinds and abilities.

  * Teen Behavior in the Library: Managing this (sometimes-challenging) developmental stage<https://libraryofmichigan.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/libraryofmichigan/event.jsp?event=4503&>
April 24 at 2pm EST
Teens are going through a lot developmentally: puberty, social comparison, familial and cultural pressures. Sometimes they take that transitional stress to your library. Managing behaviors and expectations, while making the library a welcoming place is a tough line to walk. But understanding the why of this teen behavior is a start.
PCI Webinars are recorded and available to members of the Michigan library community in the Library of Michigan's Niche Staff Skills Academy about a week after they air. New webinars will be in the New category for several weeks. You do not need to register for a webinar in order to view it later in the Staff Skills Academy.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Library of Michigan.
ALSC
This year's summer reading lists are here and packed with a wide array of engaging books for kids--birth through grade 8. The lists also highlight interactive websites, apps, and podcasts, with topics from nature and Legos to cooking and music! These colorful lists are available for free download from the ALSC website<https://www.ala.org/alsc/alsc/publications-resources/book-lists/summer-2024> to share with kids and families and to assist with readers' advisory.

CSLP
Make Your Voice Heard! All public libraries in MI are members of the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), and you are invited to contribute thoughts about future summer themes and slogans. This April, you will have two virtual opportunities to give feedback on a slogan for 2027's theme (Mystery/Detective/Suspense) and a theme for 2028. What type of sleuthing will 2027 bring to our libraries? Will we spend summer of 2028 getting our hands dirty in the garden? Standing under a tree during a rainstorm? Zipping into the future? You get to help us decide!
Register for one of our two listening sessions in April by clicking on the links below. We want to hear your voice! Ahead of the meeting, we will be providing the top 25 options for 2027 slogans and 2028 themes. Help us narrow it down to the ten that will be voted on by State Reps at the annual CSLP meeting (I'm your state rep and would love to hear your feedback)! You can see the themes and slogans<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bsKZ90rp0AWRFtwMOqXcRUxdGNEpMQ9WAL8_qH3zecE/edit?usp=sharing> we'll be discussing by clicking on this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bsKZ90rp0AWRFtwMOqXcRUxdGNEpMQ9WAL8_qH3zecE/edit?usp=sharing.
