Project 2025 and Its Consequences for Libraries
Thursday, August 15, 2024
10:00 - 11:00 AM
Project 2025 from the Heritage Foundation outlines a policy agenda that presents potential risks and challenges for public, school, and academic libraries. In July 2024, EveryLibrary released a brief detailing how the policy proposals could lead to the elimination of federal funding and the rolling back of enforcement of protections for students, families, and the right to read. EveryLibrary<https://www.everylibrary.org/> Associate Director Peter Bromberg and Senior Policy Analyst Kathleen McEvoy will join MLA’s August Advocacy Hour on Zoom to discuss the potential implications of Project 2025 for libraries. This session will highlight specific aspects of the Project 2025 framework that endanger the library ecosystem, outline broader implications the plan would have on society, and prepare library advocates and stakeholders to safeguard the independence, diversity, and essential services that libraries provide to all Americans.
