The 2025 National Día Program Registry is now open, and ALSC invites libraries, schools, and community organizations to register their upcoming programs. Call for Submissions
JRLYA, The Journal of Research on Libraries and Young Adults. has issued a Call for Papers for two upcoming issues: The Current State of Teen Services and a Special Themed Issue: Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and Cultural Responsiveness in Library Service to Teens. The preliminary deadline for submissions is Sunday, December 15, 2024. Librarians, researchers, graduate students and others who conduct research related to teens (ages 12 - 18) and libraries are invited to submit manuscripts!   *   The Joann Sweetland Lum Memorial Grant Jury
The Joann Sweetland Lum Memorial Grant aims to recognize a librarian who has a creative, innovative project that promotes literacy. Established in 2020, this annual $1,000 award is funded by friends and family of Joann Sweetland Lum.

  *   The Regina U. Minudri Young Adult Scholarship Jury
The scholarship is to be given once a year to a Masters degree candidate in Library Science who intends to work professionally with young adults in public libraries. The purpose is to provide financial assistance and encouragement to developing young adult librarians.

CSLP collecting suggestions for the 2028 Slogan/2029 Theme
Have you ever thought about where summer library themes and slogans come from? Who thinks them up? How we select each year's slogan? Well, the answer is YOU!
Each year CSLP seeks feedback from Michigan library staff for future summer slogan and theme suggestions. Libraries from across the nation also contribute, and together, we come to consensus. Now is your time to be heard! Please complete this brief survey (https://forms.gle/ertcz2EMkqtvcVC49) to suggest a slogan for the 2028 theme of Mythical Creatures and a fresh, new theme for 2029.
Some tips for developing themes and slogans:
--Adaptable for all ages
--Translatable into Spanish
--Culturally sensitive and thoughtful
--Avoid puns and wordplay
--Catchy, memorable, concise
--Inclusive, accessible, applicable across settings

The Collaborative Summer Library Program's Inclusion Committee and presenter Stephanie Haines from the Indiana Arts Commission recently presented Artful Connections, a webinar on arts and inclusion. Their focus on accessibility through arts-related tools and resources ensures all participants feel welcome and can fully participate. The webinar emphasizes the role of libraries in promoting equity by enhancing program reach, particularly in summer reading programs.
