That does happen, but a library book with stickers and labels I think would diminish the value.
I say leave it.  You can always buy another addition and hold on to that one just in case.

A patron just informed us that the first edition of Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (the text block is black with white dragons. ISBN: 9781649374042)
 is  a collectible and people are paying up to $300 for it. What do you do in situations like this?
