FYI that IMLS is including a "Community-Centered Implementation" option for the National Leadership and Laura Bush grants to encourage more participation in the programs. Please see below for more details from IMLS on the new options and the grants announcement. Applications are due September 20th.

"...this year's National Leadership and Laura Bush grants application..., but with a twist to reach more libraries of all types and sizes. The "Community-Centered Implementation" option focuses on local implementation of a model, tool, or practice that already exists, with a project span of 1-2 years, and a funding range of $25K-100K (no cost share required). There is only one application per institution for this project type. We invite you to help spread the word to the libraries in your state, and have them connect with an IMLS Program Officer listed on the grant pages by subject matter."

IMLS Now Accepting Proposals for Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian and National Leadership Grants for Libraries Programs

Funding supports training and ongoing professional development for library and archives staff, as well as initiatives aimed at advancing practices and enhancing library and archival services. In FY 2025, there is a new opportunity for community-centered implementation.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is now accepting FY 2025 proposals for the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian (LB21) and National Leadership Grants for Libraries (NLG-L) Programs.

IMLS Acting Director Cyndee Landrum details, "IMLS wants to engage and support more libraries than before. As a part of our efforts we are implementing a new simplified notice of funding opportunity, and a community-centered implementation category."

Applicants have through September 20, 2024, to submit their two-page preliminary proposal applications.

The Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian funding program aims to build a diverse library and archival workforce to meet the information needs of communities and increase the institutional capacity of libraries, archives, and library and information science graduate programs. The program supports projects that:

National Leadership Grants for Libraries Program

The National Leadership Grants for Libraries funding program enhances the quality of library services nationwide by addressing critical needs in the library and archives fields. The program supports projects that build workforce and institutional capacity for:

  *   managing and preserving the national information infrastructure;
  *   serving the public's information and education needs;
  *   enhancing library and information services through effective and efficient use of new and emerging technologies;
  *   improving community well-being and civic engagement;
  *   providing services to communities during disasters and emergencies; and
  *   building collaborative partnerships between libraries, archives, and museums that benefit the communities they serve.

The models, tools, research findings, services, and partnerships resulting from these awards can be widely used, adapted, scaled, or replicated to extend and maximize the benefit of Federal investment to libraries and archives of all sizes.
