CSLP Annual Survey
CSLP has created a survey so they can better assess the usefulness of the materials offered by the program on a national level to better serve you, the CSLP membership!

FAQs
Who should complete this survey?
The audience for the survey is public library staff who played an active role in administering or running 2024 summer library programming. One person per library could fill it out, or multiple library staff from the same library could complete the sections of the survey most relevant to their work; e.g. children, teen, or adult programs.
* Please coordinate with your colleagues on who will fill it out, especially if you are in a multi-branch system.
* This does NOT need to be filled out by Directors. (Adult/YA/Children program overseers can complete their own portions.)
* EVEN IF YOU DID NOT USE "ADVENTURE BEGINS AT YOUR LIBRARY" AS YOUR THEME, we invite you to complete the survey!
Is this survey required?
No, it is not required, but we would appreciate your input. Every library that responds helps us get a more accurate picture of overall satisfaction with the program.
I want to be prepared. What info will I need to provide?
* General feedback on using (or not) the 2024 program theme and materials;
* Feedback and info about how/whether you tracked participation, as well as stats for participation and programming for children (ages 0-11), teens (12-18) and adults.
You may skip any questions for which you don't have the answers. I suggest you wait until your summer program has ended to complete the survey\
When does the survey close?
The survey is open from now until Friday, September 13, 2024.

Success Stories: LVL UP Lunch - Inspiring Cooks with Pop Culture Eats
By: Robin Vincent, Ak-Chin Indian Community Library - Arizona
We discussed starting a cooking class here at the Ak-Chin Library and I was asked to run the program. A bit nervous, I wasn't sure if I would be able to pull off a cooking class of any sort, even though I cook and bake for fun or when we need treats for events.
I will say that this idea had been in the back of my mind before, but I never thought it would take off whatsoever: cooking dishes from video games, anime, movies, TV shows, etc.!
We have a Kitchen a la Cart<https://protect2.fireeye.com/v1/url?k=31323334-50bba2bf-31367a34-4544474f5631-23fd291c0acc0fb8&q=1&e=37de4fcc-7495-46ff-b5f3-3020764ed82e&u=https%3A%2F%2Fcslpreads.us13.list-manage.com%2Ftrack%2Fclick%3Fu%3D043a7515ceb3ad45bdd2dd405%26id%3Dee2192cdb8%26e%3D8e69ff489d> that hadn't been used in a while, the first task was to learn how to use it and see if it could handle possible dishes we would create. I would also create recipe cards for each session and put excess cards out by the front desk for any patron to take home and try on their own!
First up was the test run: Persona 4 Rainy Day Beef Bowl Challenge.
My first big step into the culinary world was through the Persona video game, I was 14; the dish was a towering beef bowl (gyudon) that was filled with vegetables and flavors that I had never had! And yet, this dish became one of my go-to meals when wanting to make food for friends and family. It was easily created using the kitchen cart and only one small frying pan. I was now excited for the program to start!
Our first official dish for LVL Up Lunch was Brock's Cream Stew from the first Pokémon movie.
It always looked delicious and having made it before, I was certain the kids would love it. They worked together and had fun prepping and cooking, the finished result was amazing! Perfect consistency, perfect texture!
Our next dish would be requested by one of our tiny chefs: Ratatouille.
While it was one that took more time than expected, it was completely worth it! All of them picked what they wanted to work on, took turns when needed and practiced their knife skills! We also got to use the Ninja blender, which was one thing the kids wanted to see work. Another one for the books, as it looked visually appealing and the taste of roasted veggies in the sauce was undeniably good!
With quite a few horror fans amongst us, our most recent creation was Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, this being the easiest one we have ever done!
Consisting of homemade pizza sauce and no-yeast dough, our cooks did a great job following the recipe, following directions and got to have some fun putting their own touch on their pizzas!
If there is something I have learned so far from the kids being in this program, it's that they love learning, staying busy and just have fun being kids overall. It is rare to also have cooks that are normally glued to phones or computers actually jump in and participate, especially our tween/teen patrons! It feels good knowing that they are excited to cook and try something new. LVL Up Lunch appealed to our teens, knowing that they are making something from a game or a movie that they love!
Since I'm a fan of pop culture, I'm happy that I can share my interest and teach our library youth how to cook screen-to-plate meals!
