Hi Justine, et. Al,
Have no fear!!! CSLP's Adventure Begins at Your Library(tm) manual has all sorts of programming for all ages, already planned out for you, plus printables galore! I agree that summer reading shouldn't be limited to only titles in your physical building, nor do all your programs need to be at the library itself. It's all about encouraging families to have fun and to enjoy reading, as well as engaging the community at large. Sounds like you've got some good ideas already brainstormed, too.
Justine, feel free to reach out to me to set-up a time to chat further, as I'm here to help you.
Thanks,
Cathy Lancaster

Hi all,

Summer has been a little rocky for my little library, and during some renovations, we ran into some unexpected issues and we've been closed for nearly a month. My SRP was supposed to start Monday, but at this point, the timeline of us actually getting back into the library is a little fuzzy.

We're a Class I library, but a big resource for computers, printing, faxing in our area -- not to mention we're one of the only organizations that has anything to do in our town.

Our books are in boxes in storage, kind of inaccessible to me, so going out and rummaging through boxes to find items patrons may want is not possible. Usually our rule is only books from our library count towards summer reading, but I'm willing to throw that rule out the window this year.

We don't usually use Beanstalk for our SRP, our patrons prefer paper logs, but I think I'd be interested in setting something up for our program because it would be something. Otherwise I've thought of having outside storytime once a week, printing off some of our materials for outdoor scavenger hunts, take home crafts, etc.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them! As it stands, I have program ideas suited only for kids, and I'm not sure how to serve teens and adults better. At this rate, I'd even put my printer on a table with wheels and sit outside for a couple hours during the week!

Thank you in advance!
