2027 Slogan and 2028 CSLP Theme Announcements!

After a year of taking suggestions, whittling down ideas, debating, wordsmithing, and discussion, we are happy to announce the official selections for the 2027 CSLP Slogan and the 2028 CSLP Theme. State Reps meet in August in Denver and voted based on all of the amazing feedback we received from all over the country.

The 2027 CSLP Slogan (for the Mystery/Detective/Suspense Theme) will be Mysteries Await at Your Library.

In 2028, the CSLP Theme will be Mythical Creatures.

Thanks so much to everyone who submitted ideas, filled out surveys, attended listening sessions, and more. We couldn't make these decisions without you! Soon, we'll start taking suggestions for the 2028 Slogan based on the Mythical Creatures theme and the 2029 theme. Start jotting down your ideas and brainstorming with coworkers and your communities to be prepared for the Theme & Slogan Committee's next call for ideas.

Help Build the new CSLP Outreach Toolkit

The CSLP Outreach Committee recognizes the role of the library as a community connector. The committee is working on creating a toolkit to provide support and resources that empower libraries to build community relationships, serve a diverse range of community members, and expand library services beyond the library building. Use this form to help us gather resources for the CSLP Outreach Toolkit.<https://cslpreads.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=043a7515ceb3ad45bdd2dd405&id=0298d5b768&e=c18caf2bb6> A resource could be an example of successful programs or outreach services, future programming ideas, relevant articles, webinars, websites, and relationship building ideas, just to name a few. The toolkit is digital, so it is important that the resource is available online so that we can link to it on a webpage.

Success Stories: Adventure Begins at Your Library/Summer Reading Program Finale at East Greenbush Community Library

The East Greenbush Community Library found a special and super fun way to celebrate the end of Adventure Begins at Your Library by holding "glow parties" in August for three different age groups of kids who participated in their Summer Reading program. According to Amy McCarthy, Head of Youth and Family Services at the library, people asked about and talked about the finales for weeks afterward, so the events were obviously a huge success! And they had a great turnout of 220 kids, teens and adults for the three separate events: Baby Rave for ages 0 to 4; Glow Up Party for ages 5 to 11; and Glowing Away Party for grades 6 through 12.

Each "party" was an hour long and the activities and music were geared towards the ages of attendees. For babies and toddlers there was a "littles-friendly" dance party, bubbles, and glow-in-the-dark fun. For slightly older kids, there was also a dance party, games and snacks, and for tweens and teens the "glowing away" event had games, activities, snacks and door prizes!

The library was able to purchase inexpensive supplies like black lights, highlighters, and assorted neon card stock and utilized supplies that they already had on hand. They made Spotify playlists for the music, kept the snacks simple and made sure to give themselves time to refresh the room between each party.

What a great way to have a "glowing away party" to celebrate the end of summer and say farewell to adventures at the library!
