[Michlib-l] In House Material Maps

Hi all,
I am conducting some research on providing a map in each department (youth,
adult) that would show patrons where to find certain items.
Do any libraries have anything similar to this that work well or that
patrons have been receptive to?
Does anyone feel having something like this is not absolutely necessary,
and maybe does not get much use?
I also wonder if you have color coded any signage in your departments to
differentiate varying collections. For example, a green sign indicating
where the board books are which have green stickers on them, a yellow sign
indicating where to find early reader nonfiction level 1 which has yellow
stickers on them, and so on.
If you could respond with what your library uses for signage in the
building, I would greatly appreciate it. Even if it does not line up with
the ideas listed above - it's always great to hear how other libraries are
serving their communities.
Thank you so much for your help.
