The University of Michigan is located in the traditional territories of the
Anishinaabe speaking peoples, including the Bodewadami, Odawa, and Ojibwe,
who continue to live in and steward the lands and the waterways of the
state and the region. These land and water resources continue to benefit
us, materially and intellectually, and remain a debt of obligation for the
University to provide education, benefit, and knowledge to all peoples of
the State of Michigan.
