[Michlib-l] SAM.gov Expiration & For-Profit Companies

Hello all,

Just received my first "spam" email from a for-profit business trying to
convince me to click their link and use their service to renew our
SAM.gov account, for the low, low price of $349.

SAM.gov accounts expire yearly, BUT are completely free to renew and it
takes only about 10 minutes (and three confirmation code verifications) to
submit your renewal through SAM.gov. Especially if you or someone in your
organization is new in that role or to SAM.gov this year, please forward
this to them before they commit to sharing that information, including the
library's banking information, to a for-profit company and paying for the
privilege.

This company in particular is USAFilingGuide.com and the email was titled "Your
SAM Registration is Expiring - ALBION DISTRICT LIBRARY." The email is
plain text, looks very much like an automated notification email, and
includes our CAGE code, and SAM UEI.

Just a heads up. Best wishes, folks!
