[Michlib-l] used books for book discussion

I should have clarified the original post (below). We do encourage people to check-out library books for this, but the handful of people that sign-up for a free copy of the book are given a little more motivation to attend an event that is otherwise just open to the general public. The event themselves do not require registration for attendance.
Thanks!
Aaron

Hi,
I've been purchasing copies of used books for our "Classic Book Discussion" series. If someone wants a copy of the book being discussed, they can essentially get their own copy ahead of time. Our Friends organization also graciously allows me to grab extra used copies that may come through their book donations.

Instead of purchasing, I was wondering if it was worth asking if other libraries had copies available. I am currently looking for To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee , We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson, The Time Machine by H.G. Wells, and Kindred by Octavia Butler. I am hoping to get 5-8 copies of each.

Please only consider this if you know it would not ruffle any feathers! 🙂
Email nemeca at boynelibrary.org if you have something.

I also have a handful of copies of Tom Sawyer for anyone who may want them.

Thank You!
