Building Community-Based Summers
If you are interested in participating in a virtual BCBS cohort, you have two options to apply for:
*
A new Ohio/Michigan/Indiana Tri-state Cohort! This cohort will offer up to 11 sessions (some deep dives, some optional check-ins), with the Youth Services Consultants from Michigan and Ohio, the Adult Services Consultant from Ohio, and each other to consider what impact summer programs are having on those that need them the most.
To learn more and apply to the Tri-State BCBS Cohort, go to : Tri-State BCBS Cohort Invitation to Apply<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a9EIw-Akqjl-Qa1GpVPpNxtSE4rYkgWV5K1MMtAUn4Q/edit?usp=sharing>.
*
The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) sponsors this six-session interactive BCBS discussion series, held over the course of two months this Fall. Selected participants will have the opportunity to engage with a nationwide cohort of library staff to dig deeply into inclusive summer services.
To learn more and apply to the CSLP BCBS Cohort, go to the CSLPBuilding Community Based Summers<https://www.cslpreads.org/building-community-based-summers/> site.
We recommend that you consider your work schedules and apply to a cohort that fits best, however you are welcome to apply to both, too.
This series is based on the <https://communitybasedsummers.org/> Building Community-Based Summers<https://communitybasedsummers.org/> framework developed as part of a grant from the <https://www.imls.gov/> Institute for Museum and Library Services<https://www.imls.gov/>.

Collaborative Summer Library Program Updates
Next week is the Annual meeting and state reps will be voting on the 2028 Slogan and the 2029 Theme - thank you to the nearly 200 Michigan library staff that responded to that survey and ranked your choices/provided feedback. It really helps to inform the vote!
Meanwhile, CSLP has created an end of summer library programming survey so they can better assess the usefulness of the materials offered by the program on a national level to better serve you, the CSLP membership. The survey can be found here: https://forms.gle/9ohxTu3YyMcAgB7v6 The survey is open from now until Friday, September 12, 2025. If you have any questions you can contact me at LancasterC5 at Michigan.gov or Barb Williams at WilliamsB39 at Michigan.gov.
MI KidLib

While the unconference has been on hiatus since 2020, mark your calendars for September 24, 2025 to join us in this event. Registration and more information can be found here<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdPc7wHaCOPKGSdCKcfj_46Zu38OfhNSdZaa6i6CygLRBIfKw/viewform>.
