We were using locking cases until about 18 months ago.  We have since removed the locking mechanism, and no longer put new DVDs/Blu-Rays/4Ks in locking cases.  Everything is on the browsing shelves.  So far, we have not noticed any increase in theft.

Does anyone else still do this? Is it more common than I am familiar with beyond the handful of libraries I have worked or been a part of? I think it was put in place to prevent stealing but I am not sure how much that is an issue compared to checking out someone with 10 DVDs going through the filing system.
