An extra special congratulations to Michigan's own Danielle Welsh (Caro Area District Library) on being elected as Children's Manual Chair, and to Katie Rothley (Northville District Library) elected to serve as chair of Social Media! Interested in serving CSLP? A call for volunteers will be going out in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

We are excited to announce the official selections for the
2028 CSLP slogan and the 2029 CSLP theme!
After a year of collecting ideas, wordsmithing, and discussion, CSLP state representatives voted for the 2028 slogan and 2029 theme during the annual meeting in early August!
Here are the results:
2028 Slogan: Libraries Are Legendary (tentative Spanish translation: Las bibliotecas son legendarias)
2029 Theme: Nature
Thank you to Theme & Slogan Co-Chairs Sara White and Rachel Milburn, along with the entire Theme & Slogan committee! And thank you to everyone who participated in discussions, filled out surveys, attended listening sessions, and more. We will soon start taking suggestions for the 2029 slogan based on the Nature theme and the 2030 theme. We look forward to hearing all of your great ideas!

Submit your program ideas via the submission form for the 2027 theme -
Mysteries Await at Your Library!
We’re looking for programs involving mystery, detectives,
discovery, exploring, puzzles, STEM & more!
One program from each category (children, teens, and adults) and one contributor of early literacy books and songs will be chosen that best captures the theme. Program ideas submitted with photos (that the submitter owns the copyright to or are proven copyright-free) have the highest chances of winning. The winner in each category will receive a $50 coupon for merchandise in our CSLP store. You can purchase some great merchandise for 2026's Unearth a Story theme!

Program Highlight:
“When Teens Read” Grant Program
Back in 2008, the West Public Library, a rural community of around 2,700, received a grant to begin a program called "When Teens Read." Local teens, called "Tale Tellers," plan, prepare, and present storytime to younger children. It has since developed into an award-winning program that continues today, with over 125 local teens participating throughout the last 16 years. This year, the teens enjoyed using the Color Our World theme, with each week's book selection based on a color of the rainbow.
