North American Virtual Reference Online Conference: Applying the Trends of Tomorrow, Today
The future of libraries is unfolding today, with many institutions embracing cutting-edge technologies and innovative strategies to better serve their communities. By integrating advancements such as artificial intelligence, chatbots, and augmented reality, libraries are transforming into dynamic, user-centered spaces that evolve to meet the changing needs of their patrons.
Dr. Sandra Hirsh, Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Information, Data & Society at San José State University, will open the conference with her keynote, "The Next Generation of Libraries: Looking Ahead to Library 2035". As we navigate the rapidly changing landscape of information and technology, the future of libraries is continually evolving. What will libraries look like by 2035? Drawing on key insights from library leaders in the recently published Library 2035: Imagining the Next Generation of Libraries (March 2024), this talk explores the lessons learned over the past decade, identifies key themes from the book, and forecasts the opportunities, strengths, and challenges that lie ahead.
The North American Virtual Reference Online Conference will take place over three half days and will be held virtually February 25-27, 2025. This is a free event, open to all, and will take place through zoom.
