[Michlib-l] YES Committee Question

Hello,

>From my understanding, for a millage campaign, a library director and library staff volunteer on a "YES" Committee on their own time (unpaid). However, it's best practice for library staff/director not to hold any the chair positions on the YES Committee.

How about the library issuing a call of action to the community to join the YES Committee? Ex. posting on bulletin board: Interested in helping with the next phase of our Library? Join us for an Information Meeting at XYZ Coffee Shop, 7pm on 2/1/25.

My gut is telling me the above would be okay, but posting on the library's social media would be a no. This whole line of thinking is how to reach members of the community to join YES Committee that are interested but not being asked directly.

Thanks for your time.

Jack Buck, MLIS

Director
