Hello All!
Happy Summer!
Do you have library law related questions like " A library's experimental AI chatbot tells a patron (after a lengthy exchange about the patron's opinion of a plot twist in a fiction series), to "maybe spend some time outside." The parents of the patron (who turns out to be the grandchild of a board member) threatens to sue the library - and the chatbot for intentional infliction of emotional distress. The board member wants the AI - and the staff member who created the chatbot, fired. Is the library liable? Can a chatbot be sued?
Or
What happened if an emotional support animal in the library gets a hold of the library guinea pig mascot (which serves as the library's staff's emotional support animal)? Is the library liable? Can other patrons sue for emotional distress for witnessing the heart-wrenching spectacle of one emotional support animal eating another? Can library staff receive workers compensation for the emotional trauma? Can public funds pay for the medical treatment of the guinea pig? Can the guinea pig get workers compensation?
Come join us for questions like these and more at the Library Law Office Hours THURSDAY JULY 17@ 3:00pm. Pre registration is required:
