Join the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services this summer & fall for our popular Supervisor Series workshops! These engaging, interactive virtual workshops include group activities, individual reflection, discussions, and hands-on practice on a variety of important skills for today’s library leaders.
Motivating Employees to Be Their Best: Wednesday, July 23, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central). This course is designed to help you discover how to tailor your leadership and communication style to better suit the needs of your employees. As a result, you will be able to create a shared vision for your organization or team, build group identity, create a culture of ownership, and establish a more collaborative, inspiring work environment. Learning to Manage for New Managers: Thursday, August 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central). This workshop is designed to help minimize your stress and walk you through the process of management by targeting five specific areas. You’ll learn to successfully handle staff, projects, performance, conflict, and yourself as you evaluate and continuously improve your effectiveness as a manager. Effective Communication Strategies for Managers: Thursday, October 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central). This workshop will teach you how to be relatable, respectable, dependable, and communicative. As a result, you will be able to have a clear direction, meet your employees’ needs, handle difficult conversations with ease, and boost your assertiveness as a boss. All Supervisor Series workshops are held on Zoom and facilitated by MCLS Library Strategist Jenny Kobiela-Mondor. Workshops are worth for 4 contact hours for professional development, and are eligible for SCHECHs for Michigan school library staff.
