The Michigan Service Hub is pleased to announce the release of the newly
redesigned Michigan Memories <https://michmemories.org/>, a website that
enables users to search the online collections of cultural memory
institutions all around the state!
Michigan Memories is the Michigan-centric counterpart to the Digital Public
Library of America <https://dp.la/> (DPLA), with access to over one million
records, a fresh look, and some important additions:
-
A new blog <https://michiganmemories.library.wmich.edu/blog> with RSS
support;
-
An Exhibits <https://michmemories.org/exhibits> section that highlights
interesting and memorable photographs and other records while exploring
Michigan’s history;
-
An Education <https://michiganmemories.library.wmich.edu/education>
section that explores different themes in our state’s history with
resources to help teachers use primary sources in their classrooms.
The Michigan Service Hub was created in 2015 as a collaborative project by
the Library of Michigan, Wayne State University, the University of
Michigan, Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, and the
Midwest Collaborative for Library Services. The service hub works with
archives, libraries, museums, and historical societies around Michigan to
help them share their publicly accessible, online collections more widely
through the DPLA and Michigan Memories.
We hope you enjoy the new Michigan Memories and look forward to bringing
you more exhibits, educational resources, and other new content in the
coming months. If you work for a cultural heritage institution in Michigan
and would like to have your collections included, please contact us
<https://michmemories.org/about-us#contact> and add to the story of
Michigan!
Funding for the new site was provided in part by the Institute of Museum
and Library Services through the Library of Michigan.
