Hello fellow libraries!
Our library is beginning to explore the possibility of hosting public discourse sessions. The aim is to create a space where community members with diverse viewpoints can come together to discuss various topics in a respectful and constructive environment.
We are very interested in learning if any of your libraries have already implemented similar programs. If so, could you share some insights into your experiences?
We are particularly curious about:
* The format of your sessions (e.g., facilitated discussions, debates, specific topics each session, open forums).
* How do you gauge the success of these programs?
* What advice would you offer to a library just starting out with such sessions?
* Have you encountered any challenges, particularly regarding disagreements or disruptive behavior, and what strategies did you find effective in managing them?
* Any information, resources, or contacts you could provide would be very helpful to us in this planning process.
Please email me directly, off the list-serv. I can share my findings if anyone is interested.
Thank you!!
