Keynote topics include the Carl D. Bradley Shipwreck, Lake Michigan's
Christmas Tree Ship, and the Paranormal in Schoolcraft County.

 

Twelve breakout sessions will cover a variety of topics, such as the
Discovery of a Mid-17th-Century Protohistoric Campsite in the Upper
Peninsula, the History of the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse, Characters of the
Manistique Area, Celebrating Agricultural and Rural History: Barns of the
Upper Peninsula, Ethnic Groups in Manistique and the Eastern Upper
Peninsula, and the Ice Breaker Mackinaw. 

 

The conference also offers workshops, tours, meals, entertainment, and a
banquet, where we will present the 

Upper Peninsula History Awards.

The Historical Society of Michigan is our state's oldest cultural
organization, founded in 1828 by territorial governor Lewis Cass and
explorer Henry Schoolcraft. A nongovernmental nonprofit, the Society focuses
on publications, conferences, education, awards and recognition programming,

Michigan's rich history.
