Just a reminder that the federal Summer Food Service Program may something you can do in conjunction with your Summer Reading program. Summer Reading, Summer Feeding



Providing real meals would be a great attraction for your summer library program. And the USDA reimburses meals served in rural areas: breakfast = $2.0375; lunch or supper = $3.56; snack = $.855. Libraries can participate by either serving the meals themselves or providing a location for another organization to serve meals.



Lots of kids go hungry in the summer. 32,300,000 children (45% of all US children) live in low-income families. 16,100,000 children (22% of all US children) live in poor families.
