Dear library colleagues,

we invite you, your colleagues, and
community members to the Pinckney Community Public Library's 4-part
genealogy workshop series entitled: "A Bridge to the Past". This series
starts on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:30am and is open to the public.
Refreshments will be served, but we ask attendees to call the library in
advance to register for each workshop date they are attending so we have
a good count for the handouts that will be shared during each workshop.
The series dates and information are as follows:

* Saturday, March 8,
2014 at 10:30am--KEEPING UP WITH WHAT'S NEW IN GENEALOGY: Learn about
websites and social media that will help you keep on top of the ever
improving access to digital records coming online each year.

*
Saturday, April 4, 2014 at 10:30am--USING THE GENEALOGYBANK DATABASE:
Find out how you can use the library's newest database subscription to
search historical newspapers. You'll never know what you'll find-births,
deaths, marriages, criminal activity! Newspapers are one of the best
places to research family events and fill in the details of your
ancestors' lives.

* Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 10:30am--WHAT ARE
GENEALOGY WEBINARS?: Researching your family history means you'll
probably be exploring areas of the country or world you weren't
expecting. Webinars are a great tool for learning more about your
genealogy without having to leave your home. We will go over the basics
on how to find and participate in them.

* Saturday, June 14, 2014 at
10:30am--SEEKINGMICHIGAN.ORG: Find out more about your Michigan
ancestors by using the collections available from the Library of
Michigan and the Archives of Michigan. Collections include death
certificates from 1897-1920, state census records from 1884-1894, plat
maps and Civil War records. This is a not-to-be missed resource!

Attendees are encouraged to bring any questions or "brick walls" you
have encountered in your research to each session. There will be time
for help with your personal quest to uncover your family history.
