About this position
Under the direction of the Users Services Supervisor, performs a variety of duties related to user support services including circulation, first-line technology and research support.  Serves as coordinator of user services in the absence of the Users Services Supervisor as scheduled.  Quality service is essential in this public relations position to establish positive first impressions and expectations of continued quality service.  It is therefore imperative that the Users Services Technician II impart the University's Quality Service Standards, listed as follows:
1. Promptness, timeliness of information and actions, availability, and ability to respond
2. Accuracy: Correct information and actions
3. Personalization: Personal contact, personal relationships, and use of names
4. Professionalism: Attitude, discretion, appearance, language, honesty, follow-through and accountability
5. Courtesy: Politeness, listening, and kindness
6. Knowledge: Answers, ideas, and problem solving
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week. Evenings and weekends are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Circulation Services (30%):
* Check-in/check-out
* Managing reservation
* Shelving using LC and NLM
* Shelf reading
* Maintaining a clean, safe environment for users
* Handling cash transactions
First Line Help Desk Support (45%):
* Troubleshooting equipment
* Troubleshooting network connectivity problems for users
* Accurately gathering information relative to the problem being presented
* Documenting issues accurately, with a high level of detail
* Password and account maintenance
Library Support Services (25%):
* Providing support for library functions outside of circulation such as interlibrary loan and research support, and collection maintenance.
About our ideal candidate
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
* Minimum of High School Diploma.
* Associate Degree in computer technology and/or a Certificate in Library Services preferred.
Experience
* Six months or more of work experience in a library, user support center or related service oriented environment.
* Supervisory experience in a service-oriented position a plus.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
* Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting computer, software, and peripheral problems.
* Demonstrated competency with both Microsoft and Mac operating systems.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Basic knowledge in the use of electronic databases and integrated library systems.
* Competently gathers relevant information to think logically, strategically, and insightfully to make sound decisions.
* Identify, diagnose, and resolve problems or user information needs.
* Completes tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Confidently supervise others by providing clear direction and oversight.
* Must be able to lift and move at least 20 pounds.
* Must be, and remain, insurable for driving by the university's automobile insurance company without additional premiums.
