The Northville District Library seeks an enthusiastic, innovative Librarian to explore and advocate for the use of online resources and emergent technologies to enhance the effectiveness of library information and instructional services. 


Position: Digital Services Librarian, Part-time 
Up to 25 Hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. 


Duties: 
Works as part of a team to develop and maintain the Library’s website and Intranet. 
Instructs the public in use of digital resources in small class settings and one on one. 
Provides reference, instructional, and reader’s advisory services for patrons of all ages and develops a section of the Adult Services Collection. 
Explores and encourages the deployment of emerging technologies to engage library users and staff in new ways 
Responsible for Collection Development in assigned areas 
Provides training and support for Library staff 


Reports to: Library Director 


Requirements: 
MLS from an ALA accredited university or near completion of MLS 
Strong commitment to customer service 
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills 
Ability to seek out and learn new technologies and apply them to library services 
Able to do basic troubleshooting of computers and printers. 
Ability to work in and contribute to a diverse team environment 
Knowledge of Joomla or other CMS. 
Knowledge of downloading ebooks, social networking, RSS, Web 2.0 and other Web-related technologies 
Knowledge of Office 2003/2007 and HTML 


Salary Range: $20.41 – $23.79 
Paid time-off benefits include pro-rated vacation and sick leave, personal business days and holidays. This is a Union position.
